Capel Coch ~ is the oldest Chapel in Llanberis,   first built in 1777 and re-built in 1802. The chapel is named after the 'red river' nearby coloured by iron ore. Near the chapel there is an old oak tree.
Back when the chapel was new, there was no school in Llanberis but classes to teach people to read and write were held in the Chapel every Sunday afternoon.
One Sunday one of the deacons went to Waunfawr with the Chapel key in his pocket. By 2 o`clock there were a crowd of people outside, so the Sunday school was held under the great old oak tree.
