Un o brif nodweddion yr ardal hon yw'r afonydd  sy'n llifo trwyddi, a'r pontydd sydd yn eu croesi.  Yr afon sy'n llifo trwy Pentrefoelas yw'r Merddwr. Ar hyn o bryd fe wneir gwaith ar yr afon ger y bont yn y pentref. Bwriad y gwaith hwn yw ceisio atal yr afon rhag erydu sylfeini prifffordd Yr A5.

One of the main features of this area are  the rivers that flow through it and the bridges that cross them.  The river that flows through Pentrefoelas is The Merddwr.  At the moment, work is being done on the river,  by the bridge, in the village. The purpose of this work is to try and prevent the river from eroding away the foundations of the A5 main road.
