• Compare the English and Welsh version of the poem 'Christmas Morning'

Activities:

• Review content and poetic  techniques discussed in the previous Welsh lesson;

• Present basic guidelines about writing their English version of the Welsh poem

• Write their English version of the poem;

• Compare their poems with the original poem using the Discussion cards 1 & 2

• Compare their effort with the version translated by Tony Conran

• Explore aspects of the originals poetic techniques which have been successfully transferred to the English version.

• Discussion to reflect on the lesson's outcomes - the pitfalls of translation, writing English/Welsh version of an original piece.
