My best battle was against Black Bart. Bart had seen Hywel Davies being killed so Bart became the new pirate Captain instead of him.

Bart became a pirate at the age of 37 when Hywel Davies had attacked his ship. Bart did not like being a pirate to begin with but he soon got used to it!

Barts ship was called ‘The Revenge’ and my ship was called ‘The Swallow’. I killed Bart to end his 4 years of being a pirate. I never managed to take his body home because when he got killed he got thrown into the sea in all his clothes and jewellery. Bart did not drink or gamble.

My name is Captain Ogle. I do drink and gamble. I had always wanted to kill Bart as it was my job to kill all pirates.

I was a Royal Navy Captain after all! It was very hard to kill Bart. I killed Bart with my cannon I took off his head and pirate guts were all over the damp deck after the battle had ended.

Pirates always used to go to Africa and the Bahamas to steal and plunder and Captain Bart had destroyed over 100 ships each year but it was during his fourth year that he did not. Bart did not battle on a Sundays so it was a good time for me to attack him.

It started on a Sunday and it carried on until Wednesday May the 7th. Bart did kill my best friend so I wanted to stamp on his head until all of his guts and blood came out . I had to kill Bart because he killed my best friend.

This was the best battle that I ever had. I got my leg shot off. We shot the 8^th cannonballs and we only had 2 cannons left to shoot. We shot guns and I hit the person that had shot my leg off .

We had 8, no 9 people left to kill so we fired another cannon at their ship and we missed again so I said ‘I will have a go on the cannon’ and then I shouted ‘Lets shoot our guns at them horrible people ok?’.

All of our gunfire hit the same people and his arm came off and I shot the cannon and we won the battle.

We saw from a smoky distance that their ship was sinking fast and that was the end of the horrible battle that I had against Black Bart’s ship. They had met their match, and we took the survivors to Britain to be hung. It was then I realized that I had killed Bart but his body was nowhere to be seen!

Bartholomew Roberts, by name BLACK BARTY (b. 1682?, near Haverford west, Wales . He died Feb. 10, 1722, at sea off the Guinea coast. He was the pirate captain of many ships for example– The "Royal Rover," "Fortune," "Royal Fortune," and "Good Fortune". He was famous for burning and plundering ships from the coasts of West Africa to the coasts of Brazil and the Caribbean and as far north as Newfoundland. His conquests are said to have included more than 400 ships and, in terms of sheer numbers, are rivaled only by the feats of Sir Henry Morgan.

Roberts became a pirate at the age of 37, but he quickly rose to captaincy. He even designed a flag for himself, portraying a giant figure of himself standing, sword in hand, astride two skulls labeled A.B.H. ("a Barbarian's head") and A.M.H. ("a magician's head"). He was finally killed by grapeshot in battle with a pursuing British warship off the Guinea coast of Africa.
